ABOUT ME
CAPTURING STORIES IN ANY FORM
Be careful what movies you let your kid’s watch. I humorously heed this warning since watching Beetlejuice at the tender age of 7 ruined me in the best possible way. Even if you’ve never seen this 80s cinematic treasure, just stick with me because it will all make sense in the end.
As an accomplished published photographer and writer, storytelling is more than an interest, it’s an honor. I firmly stand by the notion that everyone has a tale to tell. I could spew off the many years experience I have within the communication field, or mic drop my Bachelors degree in English with a Journalism focus. However, those details fail to encapsulate who I am. Deep down, I’m that awkward kid who loves to ask questions and express my observations with heart. Whether it’s through the written word, creating artistic images, or recording a podcast exchange, my life’s ambition is to collect stories. There’s unique beauty everywhere. When there's an opportunity to reflect on those discoveries, we find a part of ourselves. Art has the power to change the world, and it starts by acknowledging the potential around us.
So what does my adolescent film infatuation have to do with my creative endeavors? Well, a lot. Maybe it was the flick’s macabre aesthetic or cheeky depiction of the afterlife. Whatever it was initially, the desire for the peculiar has been tattooed in my mind ever since. Sure, goth character Lydia Deetz's obsession with snapping the strange and unusual with a polaroid camera is an archetype I strive for on the daily. Let’s be real, hanging out in an old skool analog darkroom is where I find bliss, but embracing advancements in digital photography is also my jam. Nevertheless, it’s all much bigger than me. It was in those formative years when I discovered my love for the rebels, outsiders, and underdogs. The good within the misunderstood ignites community, and that sentiment lives within the foundation of my inspiration. There’s a little bit of weirdo in all of us, and that’s something to celebrate.
